The good in social media

In a recent tweet, Ariana Grande spoke out about the how mental health therapy has saved her life more than once. Her post told all of her 50 million followers, “If you are afraid to ask for help, don’t be. U don’t have to be in constant pain.”

Following the Manchester Arena Terrorist Attack in 2017, where a bomb was set off at her concert injuring over 500 people and killing 22, she developed PTSD. With the help of loved ones, friends and her fans she sought out treatment to help her process what she was dealing with. In an interview with ELLE magazine, Ariana said,

“When I got home from tour, I had really wild dizzy spells, this feeling like I couldn’t breathe, I would be in a good mood, fine and happy, and they would hit me out of nowhere. I’ve always had anxiety, but it had never been physical before.”

Along with therapy, Ariana has used her music as an outlet to express herself and aid the healing process. Her new album Sweetener speaks volumes to the emotions and anxiety she felt and still feels. Tracks like ‘Get Well Soon’ and ‘thank u, next’ express her going through anxiety attacks and her recovery process.

Despite sharing some very hard times in her life and sharing her suffering, she knows that not all people will be able to relate to her, but there are other who are feeling the exact same way.

 “I know [my fans] feel the same feelings. I’ve talked to them about it.”
